4 unanswered NBA offseason questions: What is going on with the New Orleans Pelicans?
Like many other NBA pundits out there, I have no idea what’s going on within the New Orleans Pelicans organization. When the offseason opened, I had high hopes that the Pelicans were going to emerge from the offseason as a better team with a much-improved roster. However, after the draft and free agency, that simply isn’t the case.
You can make a strong case of the Pelicans are a worst team than they were just a few months ago and that it made absolutely no sense to let Lonzo ball walk for essentially nothing. Especially considering that they could’ve completed a sign-and-trade that included Lauri Markkanen.
Could the Pelicans salvage the offseason by making a trade before the season, absolutely? However, I simply don’t see a player on the open market that is going to significantly raise the ceiling for this team heading into the new campaign.
I have no idea what is going on with the Pelicans, what their plan is, or if this is going to get better before it gets worse.
