Detroit Pistons: 3 priorities for the Pistons heading into 2021-22
How the Detroit Pistons can take the next step in their development?
Obviously one of the worst teams in the NBA last season, the Detroit Pistons look to improve on their 20-52 record with hopes of becoming a competitive team once again in the Eastern Conference.
They were able to establish a young core led by Jerami Grant and All-NBA Rookie Team selections Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart. After the selection of Cade Cunningham with the No. 1 overall pick, things are appearing to look promising for this franchise moving forward but there is still plenty of work to be done.
The Pistons must become more efficient on the offensive end as they ranked in the bottom 10 teams in points scored, turnovers committed, 3-point field goals made, free-throw percentage, and overall offensive rating.
With the addition of Cunningham and a healthy Killian Hayes, it should help improve the team in that area. However, the Pistons were decent on the defensive end allowing the 10th fewest points, ranked 8th in steals, allowed the second least 3-pointers made, and were 8th in blocks per contest.
Head coach Dwayne Casey finally has the players he needs in order for the Pistons to make a jump in the standings and improve from last year as they continue to build and strengthen the roster and count on the young talent to get better as they gain experience.
