Can Jerami Grant emerge as a leader for the Detroit Pistons?

Jerami Grant cemented himself as the Pistons’ best player and go-to option as he successfully transitioned from the role player he once was with his former teams. But the question to be answered is if he can raise his level of play to another level? Can Grant establish himself as the unheralded leader of this team?

Grant is a gifted player with a good combination of athleticism and size. He is a good defender who is extremely versatile and can comfortably switch and guard any position on the floor. He usually is assigned to guard the opponents toughest player which is something he takes pride in. Grant is also adept at getting to the foul line with his improved ball-handling and his diversified skill set but he must continue to improve on creating space in isolation between himself and his defender.

With averages of 22.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 35 percent from behind the arc last year, Grant could easily increase these numbers as he should get more opportunities to score with Cunningham and Hayes in the backcourt and with Bey and Stewart being able to space the floor as stretch bigs.

Now is the perfect time for Grant to show that he is capable of leading this team with it’s infusion of youth, talent and room for improvement. Also, his experience playing for the gold medal-winning USA Men’s Basketball Team  should serve him well after being around the likes of Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and Draymond Green.
