NBA Rumors: Klay Thompson could return to the Golden State Warriors’ lineup on Christmas Day.
Before the season even started last season, it was pretty much over for the Golden State Warriors. That was due to the unfortunate news that Klay Thompson would be missing the entire 2020-21 season due to an Achilles injury – he missed all of the 2019-20 season due to a knee injury.
As the 2021-22 season quickly approaches, Thompson’s return is something that many around the league are anticipating. Especially those that are awaiting the return to contender status from the Warriors.
Even though the expectation is that Thompson won’t be rushed to return at the start of the season, his return is likely sooner rather than later. According to a recent report, the Warriors could be targeting a Christmas Day debut for Thompson this season.

How will Klay Thompson look after two years off?
Of course, especially because of the injury, this is all merely speculation. Thompson is expected to be back with the Warriors at some point early into the season, but I don’t think Golden State is going to rush this by any means.
Even though most are highly interested in seeing how the original big 3 for the Warriors will look post-Kevin Durant, Golden State is expected to let this play out in a smart, professional manner. Still, if his return does come on Christmas, it will provide another interesting storyline heading into the holiday.
It remains to be seen if the return of Thompson means the return of a dominant Warriors, but it’ll be an interesting added storyline to the NBA season regardless.
The last time we saw a healthy Thompson on the floor for the Warriors, he averaged 22 points on 47 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from 3-point range. Mind you, that was two full seasons ago.

How will Thompson look after, essentially, two years away from competitive live NBA basketball? It’s tough to say and impossible to predict. But, at least from the initial reports, it appears that we’re likely going to get the answer to that question at the latest on Christmas Day.
