5. Dallas Mavericks

I wish the Dallas Mavericks would’ve landed a big-name free agent this offseason because I’m interested to see how good this team can be with an all-star playing next to Luka Doncic. Nevertheless, he’ll have to try and raise the Mavs along once again this season.

The Mavs will be a playoff team but there’s no way that they can compete for a championship this season unless they make a big upgrade to its roster. Doncic will be great once again but he can’t do it alone.

Still, after back-to-back first-round playoff exits, I wouldn’t be surprised if Doncic figures out a way to grind his way to his first second-round playoff appearance. Especially coming off his Olympic performance.
