NBA: 5 free agents that will make the biggest impact on their new teams in 2021
3. Kemba Walker, New York Knicks
Perhaps you may have laughed out loud and said “well, this isn’t 2017 anymore.” Well, it isn’t but that doesn’t mean that Kemba Walker still can’t play a vital role for a team in 2021. And I firmly believe that will be the case this upcoming season as he joins the New York Knicks.
Here’s the thing with the Knicks and Kemba: they don’t need a point guard to come in and be the savior. And that’s such a huge thing for Kemba. Is he still a really good player? Yes. Does he still have enough left in the tank to be a legit starting point guard? Yes. Is he going to come in and be a star? Probably not. But that’s OK.
The Knicks just need Kemba to be a quality starter and to help take some of the offensive pressure off of RJ Barrett and Julius Randle. And I believe he will be able to do that and then some for the Knicks this upcoming season.
