What the Oklahoma City Thunder should be excited for: Josh Giddey’s Impact

A player in the mold of Luka Doncic with a little bit of Ben Simmons, Josh Giddey has the potential to grow into a solid NBA player if he broadens his offensive repertoire. Giddey was very productive playing in the NBL Australian League putting averages of 10.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 7.5 assists to go along with 1.1 steals.

He has great court vision, has proven to be impactful playing on the professional level already so people shouldn’t be surprised to see Giddey exceed expectations as he should prove to become one of the more NBA-ready players out of the draft as he gives the Thunder many options due to his versatility and being able to fit into multiple lineups. Giddey is capable of playing the 1 through 3 and has enough size to guard opposing wings.

He must improve his shooting as shot a horrendous 29 percent from deep last season in Australia. Giddey should fill a much-needed role with his playmaking ability and should help spread the floor for SGA. Playing alongside SGA will take pressure off of Giddey as it will give him the luxury of being able to focus on developing and not having to be a top-scoring option right away as he can focus on adjusting to the NBA game and his ability to control the pace of a game should help him in that area immensely.

The Thunder could have one of the most dynamic duos in the making if Giddey plays up to expectations.
