Warriors Rumors: Golden State appears to be standing firm on the stance of their young players.

Heading into the offseason, the prevailing thought was that the Golden State Warriors were going to be one of the most active teams across the board – via the draft, trade market, and free agency. With training camp set to open in a few weeks, that exactly hasn’t happened.

The Warriors didn’t make any big splashes in free agency or via the trade market. And it appears they’re more than willing to head into the season with their big three – Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green – and progressing young players as the core of a championship-contending roster.

If you’re banking on the Warriors trading a couple of their young players for a veteran star – perhaps even a Ben Simmons – before the start of the season, it doesn’t appear to be trending in that direction.

According to a recent report (subscription required), the Warriors don’t want to trade Wiseman or Kuminga. They’re off the table and won’t be included in any future trade talks, it appears. That opens the door for criticism or applause.

Is it the right move for the Warriors?

In fairness, this could also just be a curveball-type of negotiation tactic that the team is utilizing via the public media as an attempt to raise the trade value of both Wiseman and Kuminga. Or perhaps the team is really high on both.

It really wouldn’t be surprising either way.

What will the Golden State Warriors do with their unbalanced roster?

The Warriors are hoping to jump back into title contention amongst the rest of the Western Conference elites this season. And while the return of Klay Thompson is expected to play a big part in that, so should the developing Wiseman and rookie Kuminga.

The big question is whether their impact as players will be great than their possible impact as trade chips. At least for the time being, the Warriors seem to want to see what they have with these young players.
