NBA Positional Rankings: Top 10 point guards entering 2021-22
No. 1: Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
2020-21 Stats: 32 PPG/5.5 RPG/5.8 APG/1.2 SPG/.482/.421/.916
Like there was any doubt. The NBA world forgot about Steph Curry a little because he missed a lot of time with injury in 2019-20, and the Warriors were bad enough to get the No. 2 pick in the draft. Well, allow him to reintroduce himself.
The scoring title at age 33 with 32 points per game. Third in MVP voting and second in first-place votes. 11 games with 40+ points (3 of them 50+, 1 60+). Dragged a Warriors team to the play-in that, in addition to missing Klay Thompson and James Wiseman, had one of the worst benches for large stretches of the season. We saw ‘sun of his own solar system’ Steph for the first time since his unanimous MVP season. He was EASILY the best point guard in the NBA, and he will be next season.
By the way, look out for the Warriors next season too. I’m fully serious. A restocked bench. Wings aplenty including two promising lottery picks in Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. (I Want) Iguodala is back for one more ride, Fast and Furious style. If Wiseman and Klay are healthy, they’re my pick for 1/2 of the Western Conference Finals. That’s if they don’t trade their blue-chippers and salary for a stud during the season. No, they can’t get KAT. But they could go after a Siakim-level guy fairly easy in my opinion.
That’s it. My (mostly) objective rankings of the Top 10 point guards in the NBA. Disagree? Inhale, count to ten, and then exhale. If you still feel some type of way about it, tweet me @_NoBucksGiven and give me your best heckle. Until next time 🙂
