Ben Simmons Trade Rumors: A dark horse team has arrived
Ben Simmons trade rumors: It’s mystery team season!
With just a couple of weeks before the official start of NBA training camps, all eyes are squarely on the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons. It’s clear that the two sides are headed toward divorce but there’s no clear timeline of when a trade will actually come to fruition.
Assuming that one will eventually take place, however, there has been somewhat of a reported market for Simmons. As of the most recent reports, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers have been the two teams most interested in a potential trade.
Although, there’s currently no clear favorite. In the NBA, however, that could always change quickly. And according to a recent report, there is a mystery team that has an offer on the table for Simmons.
Who could be the mystery team that is in pursuit of Ben Simmons?
In the report, it suggests that the mystery team is a “small market” team and that they have a lot of interest in Simmons. It’s quite vague but also adds some intrigue to this entire narrative – one that really hasn’t had much evolution in it as of late.
My first guess would be the Cavs, but they’ve been reported and the report says that this dark horse team hasn’t been reported. The two other small-market teams that I would predict would be interested in Simmons would be the Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder – if those are “small-market” teams.
The Thunder have the assets to likely make a move that would appease the Sixers, even if they would have to include a third team to make it all work. The same could be said about the Magic.
But those two teams are my best guesses of small-market franchises that probably should be in on the Simmons sweepstakes, especially if the market for Simmons isn’t as what the Sixers expected it to be.
Nevertheless, a Simmons trade doesn’t feel or seem close. And I couldn’t even fairly predict where Simmons might land. Either way, it should be a fun next few weeks as it all begins to fall into place.
