Los Angeles Lakers: Ranking the most important players on the roster
6. Wayne Ellington
If Wayne Ellington is going to be the starting shooting guard this season for the Lakers, there’s no question that he’s going to need to play a valuable role for the team. If there’s one thing that Ellington can do is shoot the rock. He’ll immediately help the Lakers in that aspect.
Ellington is a career 38 percent 3-point shooter and is coming off a season in which he shot 42 percent shooting from deep. If he can be that consistent of a shooter for the Lakers, he’s going to be immensely valuable to the team.
The concern with Ellington is his defense. Though, the hope is that the team can play good enough collectively where they could get away with starting him at the shooting guard. We’ll see.
