Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks

This basketball prodigy is only 22 years old and has already accomplished more in three seasons than most players do in an entire career. Doncic is the fastest player in Mavs history to reach 5,000 points, became the first player in NBA history to post 30-plus points, 12-plus rebounds, and 15 assists in a game with 30 or fewer minutes played., owns the record for most triple-doubles in Mavs history with 36 and has tied Jason Kidd’s franchise record for most triple-doubles in a single season.

Doncic has proven that he is one of the top players in the league and it would be wise for the front office to ensure Doncic that they are expanding every resource available to them in order to supplement the roster with as many quality players they can in order to build around him. The Mavs traded for Kristaps Porzingis with the idea of teaming him up with Doncic in order to form a dangerous duo but things have not quite worked out as planned so far.

It remains to be seen whether the Mavs try and trade Porzingis or whether they remain to be patient and see if the combination of these 2 stars can be successful and get the team over the hump. You just rarely see 22-year-olds who are so mature and so far advanced as Doncic is and the Mavs must take advantage of his youth and give him the help he needs in order for the team to win and advance in the playoffs, at least past the first round.

Doncic always raises his level of play in the playoffs when it matters the most but he can’t carry the Mavs to the promised land alone especially with the likes of the Lakers, Suns, Clippers, and Jazz out there in the West. Doncic has MVP level potential and is a once in a generation kind of talent, but the Mavs will have to seriously consider making some moves in order for them to make a deep run in the postseason.
