NBA Rumors: Zach LaVine wants to be a member of the Chicago Bulls for the long haul.

The Chicago Bulls have gone all-in on Zach LaVine. I don’t think that’s something that can be questioned. After the offseason that Chicago has had, they’re showing LaVine that they fully believe in him and that they believe he’s a piece that can lead this team up the Eastern Conference hierarchy.

LaVine continued to progress in his development this past season in which he averaged 27 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game on 51 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent shooting from 3-point range.

He’s a three-level scorer that is quickly transforming into an offensive talent that can’t be contained by opposing teams. Now that he has additional help, after a tremendous offseason by the front office, the Bulls will now be in a position where they can make some noise in the East.

The Chicago Bulls went all-in this offseason

During the offseason, the Bulls opened the summer by acquiring Lonzo Ball and bookended it by adding DeMar DeRozan. They also added Alex Caruso, who could emerge as a key contributor off the bench for the team.

Heading into this season, the Bulls now have a strong core four of LaVine, DeRozan, Ball, Nikola Vucevic. The big question is whether or not it will be enough to be a top 4 team in the East.

That aside, though, one of the other big storylines heading into this season revolves around LaVine’s impending free agency. He’s set to be a free agent after this season, but there’s some good traction on that front.

According to a recent report, LaVine wants to be long-term in Chicago:

"“He has told people that I know: ‘Hey man, if they want me here, I’m not going anywhere. I’m building this thing. I’m the first guy in the door. I wanna be part of this.’”"

Again, as is the case with any rumors, we should probably take this with a grain of salt. But unless something catastrophic takes place during the season, it would be surprising if LaVine didn’t re-sign with the Bulls next summer.

Things are looking up for the Bulls. And I’m not sure the last time we were able to say that authentically.
