NBA stars that could request a trade next: Karl-Anthony Towns

It seems like for the past 2-3 years Karl-Anthony Towns has been on everyone’s radar as a potential star that could request out and for good reason.

Through his six seasons in the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves have only made the playoffs once (2017-18) as an eighth seed nonetheless. His best teammate through his six years in the league has been Jimmy Butler who was hurt for a good chunk of his stint in the Twin City. To make matters worse, the Timberwolves have the worst winning percentage all-time in league history (.394). Minnesota has proven that they are one of if not the worst run franchise in the sport. It makes all the sense in the world for KAT to eventually force his way out. Which, hopefully, for basketball fans will be sooner rather than later.

During Timberwolves media day, when asked about Minnesota’s consistent instability within the front office with the recent firing of team president Gersson Rosas, KAT had this to say:

"“It’s been something that’s been very constant with my career here in Minnesota. What happened last week, it just adds to the list. It’s the same thing every single time. It’s something that always leads to instability… I’ve been through almost everything.”"

These comments are damning, especially coming from the team’s best player. It’ll be compelling to see how this season plays out for KAT and the young T-Wolves. Most people don’t expect much from the T-Wolves so, mid-way through the season, maybe KAT finally calls it quits in Minnesota.

This is actually quite similar to a former situation that happened in Minnesota with hall-of-famer Kevin Garnet. Over this past summer, KG spoke about this very thing: leaving Minnesota. When looking back at his career, Garnett’s only regret was not joining the Celtics sooner.

"“If I could actually go back and change anything, I would’ve left Minnesota a little earlier, knowing that the management wasn’t as committed as I was. Or wasn’t committed at all.”"

Hopefully, for basketball fans, KAT takes KG’s advice and decides to get out of Minnesota. Sorry T-Wolves fans, not sorry.
