LA Clippers rumors: Kawhi Leonard is ahead of schedule in rehab from knee injury
LA Clippers rumors: Kawhi Leonard is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn ACL.
The LA Clippers have a championship-level roster. What has plagued this team over the past couple of seasons, however, has been their inability to either remain healthy or all play at a high level collectively at the same time.
Just when it seemed like it was all coming together for the Clippers last season, Kawhi Leonard suffered what would later be described as a partially torn ACL. He would miss the remainder of the playoffs and the Clippers would lose to the Phoenix Suns in the conference finals.
Heading into the 2021-22 NBA season, if the Clippers are going to be considered a championship contender in the Western Conference, they’re going to need a healthy Kawhi.
The big problem with that, however, is that there’s no guarantee that they’re going to get that at any point this season. According to a recent report, though, there is some hope that Kawhi will be able to return at some point this season.
"Kawhi Leonard may be out for an extended period of time this season, but he hasn’t been completely ruled out. Multiple sources have revealed that as of right now, Kawhi Leonard is ahead of schedule with his ACL tear rehab."
It’s tough to predict anything when it comes to Kawhi Leonard
Of course, we’ve come to learn that pretty much anything that pertains to Kawhi is one big mystery. He’s one of the most mysterious players in the league and it’s tough to read him – even for the Clippers.
Nevertheless, the reason why the Clippers are willing to continue down this road with Kawhi is that he’s that good of a player. Kawhi is the ultimate difference-maker for the Clippers and constantly can make a strong argument for MVP consideration year-to-year.
With the new season on the horizon, all eyes will be on Kawhi’s rehab. Even though it would be unlikely, especially considering his injury history, that we’ll see Kawhi before the midway point of the season or at all this year, the Clippers’ championship aspirations fall on his shoulders.
LA can’t win a championship without a healthy Kawhi. Unfortunately, that’s something that they may not see again until the 2022-23 NBA season.
