NBA Rumors: The Brooklyn Nets won’t offer Kyrie Irving a contract extension.

Perhaps the relationship between Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets is worst than we all realize. First, it was reported that the Nets wouldn’t be on board with Kyrie being a part-time player this season. Now it’s being reported that they don’t plan on offering him a contract extension unless circumstances change (i.e. he gets vaccinated and is able to meet protocol set out by the state of New York).

Over the last few days, it seems like something has changed in the relationship between Kyrie and the Nets. I’m not exactly sure what took place behind closed doors, but it appears something is off.

The big question, however, is whether that is also the case with Kevin Durant and James Harden. Durant chose to play with Kyrie in Brooklyn and that duo is off to a rough start – last season, it was injuries that the team had to fight through and now it’s Kyrie’s stance against current health and safety protocols.

When Harden met with the media, it was clear that something was off. Perhaps something is off between Kyrie and the rest of his teammates, including Durant and Harden.

Of course, this could all change on a dime if Kyrie simply elects to take the vaccine. At this point, though, you’d have to wonder if there is anything more that is taking place behind the scenes. It started because Kyrie didn’t want to take the vaccine but I’m not sure if it hasn’t evolved into something deeper at this point.

At least for now, Kyrie will not be playing for the Nets this season. And for that to change, it seems like there has to be a lot of change. And, perhaps, even some reconciliation of relationships in that locker room.
