NBA Rumors: Ben Simmons intends to play in games for the Philadelphia 76ers

Just a couple of weeks ago, there was a strong chance that Ben Simmons had played his final game with the Philadelphia 76ers. However, over the past week, much has changed on that front.

In the past week, Simmons has reported to the Sixers’ training facilities, he’s practiced with the team, and according to a recent report (subscription required) intends on playing games for Philly.

I’m not exactly sure how that’s going to work, especially considering that just last week Simmons wanted nothing to do with the Sixers and that he was considering sitting out the season. The fact that not even a week has passed and we’re supposed to act as if all is well between the two teams.

For Simmons to continue to avoid fines, it makes sense for him to “intend” to play in games. That’s what he has to say or what has to be reported for him to avoid fines during the regular season.

The big question is whether or not the Sixers will actually allow him to play in games for the team. I’m not sure if everything has been smoothed over and if not, it could make for awkward exchanges not only in practice but also during games.

I’m not sure how this is exactly going to play out for the Sixers and Simmons, or even if this will work. Simmons has made it clear he doesn’t want to be a Sixer and I’m not sure much has changed since he decided to show up to avoid further fines.

The “good” news for the Sixers is that Simmons appears ready to play in games for the team. It remains to be seen whether or not he will also play with a phone in his pocket, just as he did during a team practice.
