NBA Trade Rumors: Ben Simmons isn’t likely to be traded by the Philadelphia 76ers until December.

As the regular season has gotten underway, both the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons have dug into their side – the Sixers aren’t going to trade Simmons unless it’s for an impactful player and Simmons is not going to play games for the team until he’s “mentally” in the right place.

And as it should be.

Simmons should want to get right and the Sixers shouldn’t just dump one of their best assets on the roster. If the Sixers are going to be forced to trade Simmons, they should absolutely try to get the best deal possible.

That said, it doesn’t seem like any resolution is closer or imminent.

Simmons is going to remain away from the team for, who knows how long, and the Sixers are going to continue to wait for the right trade offer.

Though, according to a report, if Simmons is even traded this season it likely won’t come until after December 15 – the date on which players that signed contracts this past offseason are eligible to be moved.

That would make a lot of sense since it would open a larger pool of trade-eligible players. Still, that’s still nearly two months away. I’m not sure what else could happen between Simmons and the Sixers in the span of two months – which could be a good or bad thing.

A December or later trade of Simmons seems just about right. The Sixers should want to get the most out of a Simmons trade and even though there are many that would argue with Simmons wanting out of Philadelphia, at this point, it’s probably best that he gets his wish.

It may send a bad precedent for the future, but there have been things said that may end up being irreversible in the long run.

For both the Sixers and Simmons, it may be in the best interest to move on from each other. Perhaps that’s already been agreed upon behind closed doors. Now, it’s simply a waiting game.
