Oldies in LA

One of the Lakers’ biggest problems is their age. They are the oldest team in the league by a mile. Last night of the 18th anniversary of LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony’s NBA debuts the Lakers struggled to beat the developing Cleveland Cavaliers.

Their age is not as much of a problem, the core problem is they look their age, it is early. How is a team this old going to maintain for the duration of what many believed to be a championship season?

Perhaps, Westbrook could move to the bench? That will not solve everything, but it could help Russ gain a competitive edge going against the opposing team’s second unit. That would be a bandage for the deeper problem that plagues the team, that is the fact they have two times more players over the age of 30 (10) than they do players under the age of 25 (five.)

Due to this fact, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka should explore deals to get more youth on the roster because this current iteration of the team is not built to sustain.
