NBA Trade Rumors: The Brooklyn Nets remain open to trading Kyrie Irving.
Through the first quarter of the 2021-22 NBA season, not everything has gone to script for the Brooklyn Nets, even without Kyrie Irving, but they are still first in the Eastern Conference with a 15-6 record.
James Harden has seemed to have turned a corner on his early-season struggles and Kevin Durant is playing like the best player in the world – the Achilles injury seems like it didn’t even happen. Brooklyn is a borderline top 10 offensive team and, to the surprise of many, has the ninth-ranked defense in the league.
Even though life without Kyrie has been ideal, the Nets have done a great job in carrying themselves as the best team in the East. They’ve done such a great job in playing without Kyrie that you can’t help but imagine what this team would actually look like if they had another piece or two in place of Kyrie.
It’s something that could become a reality too, even if at this point should be considered an unlikely one.
The Nets are reportedly still open to trading Kyrie.
"[via SNY.tv]To that end, it’s worth noting that, as of late last month, Brooklyn remained open to talking trades involving Irving, per SNY sources. ESPN reported in late October that the Nets were taking calls on potential Irving trades, but not making them. In the weeks following that report, several teams said Brooklyn has continued to take that approach with the All-Star guard."
Even though it remains unlikely, it’s a reality that both Brooklyn and Kyrie might have to potentially cross at some point. Assuming that the state of New York isn’t going to change its mandates, there’s a good chance that we don’t see Kyrie play at all this season unless it’s for another team.
The Nets have said they would welcome Kyrie once he’s eligible to play. However, we all know what stands in the way of that.
The longer that Kyrie is away from the team, the more the chance of him being traded rises. At least, you’d have to think. While it’s unlikely he’s traded right now, there’s no guarantee that will remain the case in a couple of months, before the NBA Trade Deadline.
