At the start of every season, the General Managers of every NBA team are polled on various topics, from who will win the NBA Finals to who will get the MVP. One of the questions is if a GM was starting a franchise today and could sign any player, who would it be? Luka Doncic was the top choice this year at 43% and it’s easy to see why. Career averages of 25.7 PPG, 8.4 RPG, and 7.7 APG in his first three seasons are LeBron-esque.

You would have thought that he would have carried on this production into this season, but in reality, he’s regressed somewhat. Averages of 25.5 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 8.3 are still really good, but his shooting is poor – 43.9 FG%, 34.1 3P%, and 65.2 FT% are not what Luka should be providing.

I’m certain Doncic will win an MVP in the future. He’s simply too good not to. He should be right in the conversation this season given his talent and increased experience. It’s time for him to hit the reset button and become the player we all know he can be.
