10. Jerami Grant – Detroit Pistons

One of the better surprises of last season was the emergence of Jerami Grant, who at the time was in his 7th season in the NBA. He had just been traded to the Detroit Pistons from Denver and exploded into action, averaging 22.3 PPG for the season. He was one of the favorites for the Most Improved Player award and although he didn’t get it, things were looking good for Grant and Pistons going forward.

Things have not turned out that way, however, as Grant (and subsequently the Pistons) have taken a step back this season. Grant is only averaging 19.1 PPG on 40 FG% and 31.4 3P% and Detroit is currently 4-15.

I don’t think Grant was a one-season-wonder, otherwise, his scoring would have dropped off, even more, this year. I think he is suffering from his team being absolutely terrible and so more pressure has been placed upon his shoulders.

Great players learn from their hardships, so hopefully, Grant is able to take this season as a lesson and bounce back going forward/next season.
