NBA MVP 2.0: Kevin Durant is closing in on No. 1 as he carries the Nets
By Nick Andre
3. Nikola Jokic
The state of the Denver Nuggets is up in the air at this stage of the season. Many of their key players are going down with injury forcing many role players to step up. To many insiders, the Nuggets may not be a championship contender at this point. But as long as the reigning MVP, Nikola Jokic, continues to lead the way, Denver will always have the optimism of their Finals’ chances.
The Joker has begun this season by picking up where he left off a season ago. There is a lot of motivation in the big man considering how bad his team was eliminated in the playoffs last year. Jokic’s 25.7 points along with 13.8 rebounds continue to show his ability to dominate whether it’s scoring, rebounding, or distributing.
With how the season is panning out for the Nuggets, there is a lot of weight on Jokic’s shoulders as the season progresses. There is still no timetable on Jamal Murray’s return which means Jokic may go longer without his right-hand man. The Nuggets are currently under .500 and need to build some momentum going forward. As we have seen in previous seasons, the Joker knows how to lift his team and keep them afloat.
