NBA Rookie Ladder 2.0: Scottie Barnes rises; Josh Giddey cracks the top 5
By Alex Mcewen
1. Scottie Barnes, Guard, Toronto Raptors
To surpass Mobley for the top spot on the rookie ladder, you have to do something pretty special and that is exactly what Scottie Barnes has done with the Toronto Raptors. Their record does not reflect how good Barnes has been this season.
Barnes is dominating across the board in nearly all statistical categories. He ranks first in the following categories among his rookie peers; points (332), minutes played (784), field goals made (135), field goal percentage (48.9 percentage), and rebounds (177).
Those are the categories he leads the way in, he is not too shabby in others areas either. Barnes ranks fifth in 3-point percentage (35.7 percent), third in steals (26), third in blocks (17), and fifth in assists (71).
Given the impressive numbers this rookie class is posting, it’s safe to say the NBA is in good hands. The next question is, how high can the 2021 draft class rise?
