The Golden State Warriors have no plans to trade James Wiseman.
Sporting the best record in the NBA, there aren’t many moves the Golden State Warriors should be angling for. In fact, the popular saying is: “Why fix something that isn’t broke?” And that is absolutely right. Why should the Warriors tweak something that seems to be overwhelming the leauge?
Even as some valuable players that would likely help the Warriors in their pursuit of another championship have hit the open market, one thing has become clear for the team. And it’s that the Warriors are holding firm on their stance of not trading James Wiseman.
Wiseman may not have played in a game thus far this season, but the expectation is that he’s going to play a valuable role for the team. He’s coming off a rookie season in which he had stretches of brilliance and the hope was that he would pick up where he left off.
However, his recovery from injury has robbed him of that so far this season. Though, the good news is, he appears close to a return to the lineup.
That said, the Warriors should absolutely have Wiseman as an untouchable right now. Golden State is arguably already the best team in the NBA and they haven’t even added Wiseman or Klay Thompson.
They would be foolish to make a rash move to trade Wiseman for a veteran that may or may not make a tangible difference in their road to a championship.
If something changes over the course of the next few months, perhaps we’re having a different conversation. At least for the time being, however, there’s no way that the Warriors should even entertain the idea of trading Wiseman.
If the Warriors win the championship this season, it’s highly likely that Wiseman is going to play a somewhat valuable role at some point in their run.
