NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly expressed interest in Myles Turner.

At 14-13, it’s fair to have true questions about the Los Angeles Lakers. Even though they have played better as of late – they’re 6-4 in their last 10 games – they are still a far cry from the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns, who sit atop the Western Conference standings.

Predictably, one huge area of concern for the Lakers this season, apart from their early-season injury woes, has been their defense.

Even though they have the 12th ranked defensive rating in the league, this is a unit that is allowing the third-most points in the league overall and the third-most points in the paint.

It’s clear that the team’s center duo of Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan simply hasn’t worked out. Not even sliding Anthony Davis to the center position has been as effective as many thought it would.

According to a recent report, the Lakers have already explored the potential for upgrading at the position. They have expressed interest in trading for Myles Turner.

Considering where the Lakers find themselves a little more than a month into the season, I think it would’ve been more surprising had the Lakers not shown interest in a legit, rim-protecting big that could potentially seal up some of their interior defensive issues.

The Lakers should be interested in Turner, that’s not really a surprising revelation. The problem is that the Lakers don’t really have the assets (or draft pick compensation) that it likely will take to land Turner.

If Los Angeles is serious about landing Turner, they’re going to have to get creative with their offers. Though, at least for now, the Lakers can’t rely on such a move to save their season.

Plus, even if the Lakers land Turner, there are still plenty of other issues that are plaguing this team. Right now, the Lakers aren’t very good and they have to figure out some internal issues first. Then, and only then, would it make sense to seriously think about finding a way to acquire Turner.
