NBA: 4 sleeper rookies who may not be in contention for ROY
By Nick Andre
4. Franz Wagner, F, Orlando Magic
Maybe some didn’t watch his spectacular college career at the University of Michigan, but Franz Wagner can play. The rookie has a special skill to score at a high level. Throughout this season, Wager has been an important piece for the Magic and has oftentimes been one of their leading factors offensively.
Wagner is averaging 15.8 points per game on 45 percent from the field along with 37 percent from three. It’s safe to say that he’s gained more of an opportunity as the Magic have dealt with injuries and different rotations for most of the season.
Although their lottery pick, Jalen Suggs, was supposed to be the star rookie, Wagner has stolen the spotlight as the impressive young player in Orlando. Even though the Magic are not in playoff contention this season, Wagner will look to continue to insert himself as a Rookie of the Year favorite.
