NBA: 4 sleeper rookies who may not be in contention for ROY
By Nick Andre
3. Brandon Boston Jr., G, LA Clippers
After a subpar freshman year at Kentucky, Brandon Boston’s draft stock hit very low. The dynamic wing didn’t seem to have a lot of optimism coming into the NBA. But the LA Clippers took a chance on Boston with their late second-round pick. While his opportunity has been limited, to say the least, he has made the most of his time on the floor when inserted into the game.
Through 21 games played this season, Boston has had five double-digit scoring performances and is averaging 6.4 points per game. The game that stands out is his performance on December 8 against the Boston Celtics, where he recorded 27 points on 9-13 shooting.
Since that point, Boston’s confidence has grown as he has been more of a rotational piece for head coach Ty Lue. Although Boston is far away from winning a ROY Award, his great showings this year will increase his value going forward.
