1. DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls
Free throw percentage- 85.8%
Shooting fouled percentage- 16.5%
Minutes played- 1116
As much criticism as DeMar DeRozan has gotten from the advanced stats community in his career due to his really bad defensive statistics, and his reluctance to take the 3-point shot, this is actually a category that definitely gives love to DeMar, and highlights his strengths.
For the last six seasons, which is more than a fair sample size, DeMar has attempted 15 or more shots, shot over 45 percent from the field, and shot above 80 percent from the free-throw line. It’s not surprising that he’s one of the three players on the list with his style of play which involves a lot of mid-range shots, one on one creativity, and a slew of pump fakes.
Those who were skeptical of the Bulls signing DeMar have seemed to all come around as he has been undeniable, and is arguably having the best year of his stellar career which was very impressive already with his tenure in Toronto and San Antonio.
The season is still young but he is averaging more points than any of his previous seasons and is shooting at his second-highest percentage since his rookie season in which he only took seven shots a game. Chicago and DeMar seem to fit like a glove.
