NBA Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks aren’t likely to make a big splash at the trade deadline.
At the moment, the New York Knicks are considered one of the bigger disappointments in the Eastern Conference this season. After being the 4th seed in the East playoffs last season, the Knicks are only 19-20 (10th in the conference) at nearly the midway point of the season.
Their underwhelming first-half performance this season leaves many to believe that they could be a candidate to make a big move at the trade deadline.
Though, according to a recent report, that doesn’t appear to be the case. In fact, the Knicks are a team that is more likely to make a smaller move to help them for their playoff push than to make a big move that could alter the ceiling for this season.
"[via Bleacher Report]New York appears more likely to tinker around the edges than swing for such a difference-maker."
Quite frankly, this makes a lot of sense for a team that is likely two stars away from being major players in the Eastern Conference. As it stands, even if the Knicks were to land the best player on the trade market – which many believe to be Ben Simmons – I’m not sure that move puts them any higher than one of the middle seeds in the East.
That’s not the goal for the Knicks in their pursuit of a big move, even if that means eating a season that is going more and more like a disappointing one.
It wouldn’t be surprising if the Knicks made a deal at the NBA trade deadline, but at this point, it would be unlikely for the team to make any big moves.
