Point guard – Dejounte Murray – San Antonio Spurs

We are in a strange period of NBA basketball; the San Antonio Spurs aren’t a legit title contender and haven’t been for the past few seasons. Every year throughout Tim Duncan’s tenure, the Spurs have been right there nearly every single year. Now that Tim Duncan has gone and Gregg Popovich is 72 years old and close to retiring, a new era is dawning in San Antonio, but they shouldn’t be too worried.

Dejounte Murray is the best defensive point guard in the league right now. At 6-foot-4 with a 6-foot-9 wingspan, he has the perfect frame for his position, and he uses it to great effect. Right now he is leading the league in steals per game at 2.0 and is grabbing 7.2 defensive rebounds per game as well.

The Spurs won’t be title contenders for a while as they go through their rebuild, but getting a few pieces to play alongside Murray will easily get them back to the playoffs.
