5. Jerami Grant – Detroit Pistons
Last season Jerami Grant came in second for the Most Improved Player award, and I still think he should have got more recognition for his efforts. He carried a terrible Detroit team and was their only consistent offensive threat, and still managed to average 22.3 points per game on 43 percent shooting from the field.
This season Grant has been out with a thumb injury, but before he went down he was still putting up 20.1 points per game. The Pistons are in full rebuilding mode, so they will be looking to acquire draft picks and young talent in hopes of seeing it grow.
Jerami Grant is 27 and will be 28 before the season ends, so by the time Detroit can potentially be competitive again, Grant will be past his prime, so it’s time to cash in now. Trading him for some 1st round picks and some expiring contracts should be the Pistons’ goal going forward. That way a team can benefit from the talents of Grant, he gets to play for a competitive team in his prime and Detroit gets more draft picks and flexibility for the future.
