Dallas Mavericks
So, it appears the Dallas Mavericks are not as putrid as I perceived them to be before the season. My apologies, but I will cite PTSD of watching Jason Kidd coach the Milwaukee Bucks into oblivion as my excuse. I am still not all that sold on him as a coach, but they are winning so I will leave it alone for now.
The Mavs are fifth in the West! They are 26-19 and are riding their defense. Yes, Luka Doncic is still the boy wonder, but Dallas’ defense is what got them here. Dorian Finney-Smith and Maxi Kleber have been electric. Rotations have improved drastically across the roster. Credit is due.
They still need upgrades, and their front office knows it. They have been rumored to be interested in big men like Myles Turner and John Collins. I am unsure whether their plans would be to replace Kristaps Porzingis or pair them in the frontcourt. Regardless, I like the aggressive mindset.
Poprzingis holds decent value, if available. Jalen Brunson is going to get PAID this offseason, and they may choose to capitalize on his hot streak with a trade. Wings like Tim Hardaway Jr, DFS, and Kleber are always in demand. I would like to see the Mavericks add another legitimate talent with Luka. They will need it in the playoffs, trust me on that.
