NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly interested in Buddy Hield ahead of the trade deadline.

Just before the NBA Draft last offseason, it appeared that the Los Angeles Lakers were honing in on acquiring Buddy Hield from the Sacramento Kings. Then, moments later, it was announced that, instead, the Lakers had acquired Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards.

The rest is history.

Currently, with roughly a week and a half before the NBA Trade Deadline, the Lakers are out of the top 8 in the Western Conference standings and are 24-26. Anthony Davis just returned from injury and the hope is that the Lakers will go on a second-half run that will help them make a strong push toward the postseason.

Though, they’re probably going to need some additional reinforcements. Even when this team has been fully healthy this season, the Lakers have left much to be desired.

As the trade deadline approaches, the Lakers are expected to be active. The big question, of course, is whether they have enough assets to actually pull off a significant trade.

While the Lakers are interested in a myriad of contributors, one other player that the team is reportedly open to pursuing is Buddy Hield.

There’s no question that Hield could potentially help the Lakers. That was the case when the team elected to trade for Westbrook instead. Looking back, it’s easy to say that the team should’ve acquired Hield instead of Westbrook, but what’s done is done.

And it won’t be easy for the Lakers to remedy their mistake.

Westbrook has virtually no trade value and the Lakers may not have the assets it takes to acquire a player such as Hield (especially if it turns into a bidding war).

The Lakers are going to try to do their best to acquire a player that could help this team make a move up the standings during the second half of the season. Though, it appears as if it’s going to be one large mountain to climb.
