NBA Trade Rumors: Washington Wizards looking to make a big deal?
NBA Trade Rumors: The Washington Wizards are reportedly open to trading nearly anyone on their roster.
The Washington Wizards have lost four straight games and are officially in danger of dropping out of the playoff race entirely in the Eastern Conference. At the moment, the team is 23-25 and is sitting in 10th place of the East standings.
Their hot start to the season is not more than a faraway memory and this team desperately needs to make a move with roughly a week and a half before the NBA Trade Deadine.
And according to recent reports, that’s exactly what this team is open to. Per ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the word on the street is that the Wizards are open to nearly trading everyone on the roster – of course, with the exception of Bradley Beal – as the deadline nears.
This is what would fall in line with what the expectation would be for the Wizards, looking objectively. Washington is kind of in no man’s land in the NBA and needs to make a big move.
Over the past couple of offseasons, the team has failed to land a second star to place next to Beal (their latest attempt at it included acquiring Spencer Dinwiddie) and it looks like they’re going to head into another offseason with that goal in mind.
Of course, that could all change if Beal finally decided that he wants out and forces a trade – he could leave in free agency this offseason, as well.
Either way, the Wizards are making a gamble. Though, the hope is that their good faith to Beal will pay off with him signing an extension and hopefully making things right by landing a second star for him this offseason.
Or perhaps at the deadline. The Wizards have some interesting assets that they could shop. Question is, will the right piece and trade arise that would both appease Beal and the team? That’s a more difficult question to answer.
