NBA Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks could be a landing spot for C.J. McCollum at the trade deadline.

The Portland Trail Blazers are a team to watch heading into the NBA Trade Deadline. Even more so after pulling the trigger on a somewhat confusing deal with the LA Clippers last week.

Nevertheless, as the trade deadline quickly approaches, it appears as if this team is going to operate as sellers. The one big piece, of course, that many teams are watching to see if they sell off is C.J. McCollum – the Blazers have made it clear they’re not trading Damian Lillard. That pipe dream can die.

Should McCollum be shopped ahead of the deadline, there are expected to be plenty of potential suitors. And according to Marc Stein, the New York Knicks have emerged as a legit trade suitor for McCollum.

That makes sense. The Knicks are a team that is expected to be a buyer at the deadline. Even though they’re 5.5 games out of the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference standings, it would be highly surprising if the Knicks operated as sellers at the deadline.

And if a talent such as McCollum suddenly becomes available, it would be bad business if the Knicks didn’t do their due diligence.

Considering that the Knicks need help at the guard position, McCollum would be a fit. He wouldn’t be the perfect fit for what the Knicks need, especially considering that this team is still in search of their long-term answer at the point guard position, but could help bring about some major change that this team desperately needs.

McCollum would help drastically on the offensive end and perhaps could solve the issues that cause them so much trouble on that end of the floor.

All in all, it’s not surprising that the Knicks could emerge as a landing spot for McCollum. And that’s the case for many teams.
