NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Minnesota Timberwolves are eyeing Marcus Smart ahead of the trade deadline.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently on a four-game winning streak and continue to get better and better as the season has gone on. They have been a surprise team in the Western Conference this season.

Led by the emergence of Anthony Edwards, the Wolves are 28-25 and currently sit in the seventh seed of the West standings. In fact, they’re only 2.5 games out of the fifth seed at the moment.

Because of their strong first half of the season, the Wolves will likely be approaching this week’s NBA Trade Deadline as buyers. It would be wise for this team to add a player or two that could help in their push toward the playoffs over the last few weeks of the regular season.

One recent report suggests that Marcus Smart is one player that the Wolves are targeting ahead of the trade deadline in an attempt to boost their chances of making the playoffs this season. Adding Smart would be a strong move for the Wolves.

Smart is everything you want in a role player. He’s the ultimate team player and doesn’t necessarily need the ball in his hands to be all that effective. He’s great on the defensive side of the ball and gets the job done offensively.

Smart is the type of player that you hate to play against but love when he’s on your team. He’s the exact type of player that every playoff team needs to make a run. That said, it’s probably going to be difficult to pry him out of Boston.

Especially considering that the Celtics have managed to turn their season around in a matter of a few weeks.

We’ve seen stranger things in the NBA, and maybe the Celtics’ brass believes that the last few weeks is a mirage, but it would be surprising if Smart was traded at the deadline. Perhaps the Wolves need to get plan B ready.
