The Dallas Mavericks are tired of the first-round playoff losses

If the Dallas Mavericks would’ve emerged from the NBA Trade Deadline without making any moves, I would’ve been extremely surprising. Nevertheless, they finally made a splashy move in an attempt to break the streak of losing in the first round of the playoffs with Luka Doncic.

The Mavs traded Kristaps Porzingis for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans. Dinwiddie should be an intriguing pairing with Luka and Bertans should add some shooting to this frontcourt. Both will need to improve from their stints recent with the Wizards, but perhaps a fresh start is what they needed.

Maybe, in the end, this deal is remembered as a net-neutral move, but I’m just glad this team didn’t default to do nothing at the trade deadline once again. I’m fascinated to see how far Luka can take this retooled team – also possibly with a buyout addition of Goran Dragic.
