Can the Lakers trust LeBron entering the final year of his contract?

During the offseason, the Lakers will have to make a decision. LeBron James will expect the team to upgrade the roster and in order for Los Angeles to do that, they’re going to have to mortgage the future to a certain extent to get it done.

The Lakers’ front office didn’t want to do that at the NBA Trade Deadline and I’m not sure they’d be willing to do that in the offseason before heading into LeBron’s final season of his contract wit the team.

Unless, of course, LeBron signs an extension. Him signing an extension would make this all moot. But I don’t believe he will and will want to see the Lakers drasticallay improve the roster before he would even think about it.
