What’s a fair expectation for the Memphis Grizzlies in the playoffs?

Even though the Grizzlies have objectively been one of the best teams in the Western Conference this season, I still don’t believe it’s fair to expect this team to make a run to the conference finals. While that wouldn’t be surprising, I don’t think that should be penciled in just yet.

Memphis is an electric young team. Ja Morant is a budding superstar and the playoffs could be the platform he needs to become a household name in the NBA. But I still feel like the Grizzlies are a year away from being a legit contender in the Western Conference.

That doesn’t mean they can’t make a deep playoff run. I just believe that their inexperience is bound to show up at some point during the postseason. Especially in a series against a more seasoned team. The Grizzlies are coming. This may not be their year, however. And that’s OK.
