NBA Rumors: Mitchell Robinson is expected to have plenty of suitors this offseason.

The New York Knicks have some big decisions to make regarding more than a few of their players this offseason, in addition to finding a strategical way forward after somewhat of a disappointing season this year.

One player that the Knicks will need to make a decision on is Mitchell Robinson. Over the course of his first four years in New York, Robinson has flashed promise at different points in his young career. However, inconsistency and injury issues have done him no favors.

Because of that, the expectation is that Robinson will test the free-agent market during the summer. While it would be wise for the Knicks to bring him back at a good price, there are almost certainly going to be plenty of other teams intrigued with him.

According to a recent report, the Detroit Pistons, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Dallas Mavericks are just three of the teams that are expected to be interested in the big man.

Robinson will be an unrestricted free agent and is essentially free to sign wherever he likes. And that could make for an interesting offseason for New York. There’s no question that the Knicks will have the cap space to pay Robinson what he can get on the open market, but the true question remains around whether or not the front office will agree with what the market will dictate for Robinson.

During his fourth season in the league, Robinson is averaging eight points, nine rebounds, and nearly two blocks per game. He shoots an efficient 77 percent shooting from the field overall. Ultimately, his free agency status will come down to whether or not the Knicks believe he’s a key part of their current build.

Quite frankly, especially after this season of regression, it’s smart for the Knicks to reevaluate nearly every player on the roster. And Robinson certainly falls into that bucket. But they’ll have to make a decision – or consensus – on him sooner rather than later.
