NBA Rumors: Nuggets’ Jamal Murray return on the horizon?
NBA Rumors: Is a return for Denver Nuggets’ Jamal Murray on the horizon?
Entering this season, it was difficult to project what the Denver Nuggets would be. Mostly due to the Jamal Murray injury, which he sustained toward the end of last season, and then when it was announced that Michael Porter Jr. would undergo another back procedure early this season.
However, despite all that, the Nuggets have still managed to stay relatively afloat in the Western Conference in large part thanks to the MVP-level of production from Nikola Jokic.
The hope, however, over the last few weeks of the season is that there will be a return from both Murray and Porter Jr. At least for now, both seem to be trending in the right direction. Especially the former.
Murray was recently assigned to the G League, which will likely open a window in which he will begin practicing with the team and, eventually, get the green light to make his season debut.
Even though this is certainly a positive development, this could just be a way for Murray to dip his toe back in the NBA waters in an attempt to see how his body and mind react. If all turns out good, then the next step is the one to watch – that would likely involve a return to action.
I don’t think a return is imminent for Murray, even if all goes according to plan. Perhaps in another couple of weeks, there’s a serious conversation between Murray and the team. And after that, a plan of action will be outlined.
Either way, this is good news all around for the Nuggets who continue to try to make a move up the Western Conference standings during the stretch run. Denver is currently sitting in the sixth seed and just 1.5 games back of the fourth seed.
