NBA Rumors: According to a recent report, Quin Snyder could emerge as a candidate to be the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

As the Los Angeles Lakers quickly approach what will likely end up being a disappointing season, you can’t help but look ahead to possible changes that could be coming during the offseason – from the roster to the coaches on the bench.

While the expectation is that the Lakers are going to make some personnel moves, at this point it would be surprising if there wasn’t a correlating coaching change. And according to one report, one potential candidate that could emerge is current Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder.

Snyder would absolutely be a home run hire. He’s found success during his time in Utah, but there’s one big problem with that – he’s still the head coach of the Jazz. And I have a hard time finding an outcome for the Jazz in the playoffs that would change that.

I believe that there’s a better chance that the Jazz makes a major roster shakeup than fires Snyder. But, you never know. That said, the Lakers could always poach Snyder from the Jazz and work out a trade.

Those types of deals in the NBA are a bit rarer but they’ve happened before.

Either way, after such a disappointing season, the Lakers must do something in the offseason that would effectively shift their outlook headed into the future. LeBron James has one year remaining on his contract after this season and it’s unlikely that they trade him during the offseason.

Even if LeBron wants to leave after next season, it’d still be in the best interest of the Lakers to do everything they can to make the most out of possibly his final season with the club.

Snyder would be an upgrade for many teams in the league. Question is, would the Lakers be able to pull off such a move?
