NBA Rumors: Is Bradley Beal laying the groundwork for his departure from the Washington Wizards?

The Washington Wizards and Bradley Beal are heading into a  big offseason. Not only do they have to figure out their own futures, but there’s a very good chance that whatever decision they decide for themselves will impact the other party in a meaningful way.

For Beal, it’s actually quite simple – he needs to decide whether he’s going to accept the max extension that the Wizards are in all likelihood are going to offer him. If not, he could elect to leave in free agency or via trade.

And while Beal has said all the right things and even recently said that it’s safe to say that he’s leaning toward re-signing with the Wizards, he also hasn’t closed the possibility of him leaving Washington.

And a recent quote, via The Volume Sports, adds fuel to that potential fire.

Of course, at this point, it’s hard to see Beal actually leaving Washington. He’s said everything he needs to say about the franchise and his impending decision that suggests he’s going to re-sign. Though, this is an interesting wrench.

Beal was shut down during the latter portion of the season due to injury but should be one of the most sought-after free agents should he test the market.

There have already been whispers of his potential landing spots, with the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat, among other teams, expected to pursue Beal hard. Even more so if their respective seasons don’t end the way they hope.

Either way, heading into the offseason, all eyes will be on the Wizards and Beal. He’s the type of player that could change the entire landscape of the league depending on what he decides to do during the offseason and moving forward in his career.
