Portland Trail Blazers: Improbable 4 step plan to a win-now 2022 offseason
By Dan Knitzer
Step 3: Extend Anfernee Simons and re-sign Jusuf Nurkic
This will be expensive as the expectation is that Anfernee Simons could command a near-max extension, so offloading the salaries of ill-fitting low-production players in step 1 will be necessary for an ownership group that hasn’t paid the luxury tax in ages.
During his fourth season in the NBA, Simons is averaging a career-high 17 points and four assists per game on 44 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent shooting from 3-point range.
The team also needs to make it a priority to re-sign Jusuf Nurkic who will help the team solidify their frontcourt heading into next season.
