NBA Rumors: According to a recent report, Ben Simmons is slated to miss at least the start of the NBA Playoffs.

Since Ben Simmons was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers at the NBA Trade Deadline, the Brooklyn Nets have said all the right things when it comes to his potential return this season. They maintain that they’re hopeful he’ll be on the floor at some point this season.

Whether that’s just a PR spin or not remains to be seen. However, with just a few regular-season games remaining before the start of the playoffs, time is running out for Simmons to make his debut this season.

As he continues to inch closer and closer to a return, he’s still reportedly far from a return. According to a recent report, he’s still at least a few weeks away and will miss the start of the NBA playoffs.

If you’ve been keeping up with the recent timeline in his rehab, that shouldn’t come as a bit surprising. Simmons still hasn’t done much on the floor and, from the sound of all the updates, is simply waiting for his back to react in a positive way.

Simmons has yet to play in a game this season – for the Sixers or Nets – and at this point, it would be surprising if he actually played this season for Brooklyn.

Despite that, there is a lot to feel good about for the Nets heading into the playoffs. Now that Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are both all hands on deck, the Nets have had some impressive showings – including one Thursday night when they nearly beat the defending champion, Milwaukee Bucks.

If Simmons does return at some point this season, it will only give this team an added boost in the playoffs. However, I still maintain that it wouldn’t be wise to expect Simmons to return this season. Even if he does, it likely won’t be in a huge way.
