NBA Trade Rumors: After big moves at the NBA Trade Deadline, Malcolm Brogdon could be a prime trade candidate this offseason.

There are two factors stemming from this season that could end up changing the state of the Indiana Pacers. The first was the step back that the team took this season in the standings. The Pacers will finish with the third-worst record in the Eastern Conference and the fifth-worse record in the NBA.

And the second factor was the big trade that the Pacers made at the NBA Trade Deadline. Indiana (essentially) traded Domantas Sabonis for Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield. Now, the Pacers have a really strong core of players under the age of 26.

If the Pacers wanted, they could pivot to a semi-retooling around Haliburton (22), Chris Duarte (24), and Myles Turner (26). If they do go down that road, it could leave several veteran players on the roster in a place of limbo – including Malcolm Brogdon, who signed a two-year extension just before the season.

That means that Brogdon is under contract for the next three seasons, at a reasonable price of roughly 22.5 million per. Because of his situation with the Pacers and his affordable contract, there’s a good chance that Brogdon could emerge as a prime trade target this offseason.

Even more so if the Pacers embrace the youth movement and pivot toward a retooling.

Let’s also don’t forget that the Pacers are expected to have a top 5 draft pick and two first-round picks in the top 20 (with the second first-round pick coming from Cleveland in the Caris LeVert deal at the trade deadline).

If there’s any contender that’s looking to solidify their point guard position, there’s no question that Brogdon could emerge as a prime target. Brogdon is coming off another productive season even as he has battled injuries on and off this season.
