MVP contender #2: Joel Embiid

The first center since Shaquille O’Neal to win a scoring title. Joel Embiid is a generational type of talent just like the other two contenders in this article.

Embiid averaged a league-high of 30.6 points and a career-high 4.2 assists a game. Embiid carried the load while the Ben Simmons drama played out and kept Philly alive in the playoff race.

Eventually, James Harden was traded to Philly for Simmons, but it was and still is Embiid’s team. If Philly is going to make a finals run, Embiid will be the focal point of the offense.

Embiid led the NBA with the most 40 point games with 13. When looking at how valuable a player is, there are not many players that have been more valuable to a franchise than Embiid. The modern-day Shaquille O’Neal, Embiid is looking to capture the first MVP for Philly since Allen Iverson.
