NBA Rumors: The Golden State Warriors are another team that has been recently linked to Rudy Gobert.
With the 2022 NBA Playoffs less than a week away, there are many eyes that will be on the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference.
When the Warriors are fully healthy, this is a team that has proven it can compete with the likes of the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies in the West. The big problem with that is that this team hasn’t been healthy at any point during the second half of the season.
And there’s no guarantee that they’re going to have Stephen Curry at the beginning of their seven-game first-round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets.
Should their season flame out with a first-round playoff loss, the expectation is that this team is going to swing hard to drastically Improve their championship chances heading into next season.
There are whispers that the Warriors could be another team that could show interest in Rudy Gobert should he hit the market this offseason. Gobert is arguably one of the best defensive players in the league, but there’s a chance that Utah Jazz elects to shop him during the offseason.
Especially if they fall in the first round again. Should the Jazz do so, the Warriors should absolutely be interested.
Of course, that’s a lot of “ifs, “and”, and “buts.” For this to actually come to fruition, plenty has to happen.
With that said, for any veteran star that hits the market this offseason, it would make sense for a team like the Warriors to pursue. Golden State is in win-now mode and the team may not have many years remaining of Stephen Curry’s prime.
Even though they have a solid young core of players, the Warriors need to be doing everything they can to try and win within the small window that remains for Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
Adding an impact player such as Gobert would qualify as doing just that. But, again, there are a lot of “ifs” that all have to come together for this to be a real possibility this summer. Then again, nothing can be counted out in the NBA.
