Desmond Bane, Memphis Grizzlies

Unless you spent a great deal of your time over the last six months watching Memphis Grizzlies basketball, there’s a good chance that you don’t know the name Desmond Bane. However, assuming that the Grizzlies pick up where they left off in the playoffs, there’s a good chance you will by the end of the team’s postseason run.

Ja Morant is the headliner for the Grizzlies, but the team wouldn’t have finished with the second-best record in the NBA without the contributions of Bane. Another second-year pro, Bane averaged 18 points and four rebounds on 46 percent shooting from the field and 44 percent shooting from 3-point range.

With Dillon Brooks missing roughly two-thirds of the season, Bane quickly emerged as the second-most consistent offensive player next to Morant. Plus, he’s a really good player on the defensive end too.

Bane is a player many casuals are going to get their first look at when watching the Grizzlies during the playoffs. If they make a deep run, he’s going to become a household name heading into next season.
